International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

As Chooks man said, as Wheaten colored chicks start to feather you will easily be able to tell sex. If they feather like our Wheaten Games, females will start to feather a softer fawn color on their back and breasts, while the males start getting red shades and black on their shoulders, and black feathers on their chest. I love the color wheaten in our Games. Post pics as your wheatens grow! Im keeping my fingers crossed you have two pullets and a cockerel. :fl
Thank you kfelton0002, I will post some pics in a few weeks!

they are nice but not a show quality yet .
still have many faults to breed out and fix a good .
one day I ll be there .
the reason i m breeding the marans chooks is not to show them but to restore all the varieties we lost .
marans chooks are very rich in varieties

chooks man, how is your Colombian project going?

LOL he really does look like he is pouting!

He is a super proud cockerel. For me to restrain him this way was just more than his pride could bare. LOL

Against his will, he relinquished his title as main cockerel on the yard (free-ranging that is). We tether maturing roosters this way for their protection. It prevents them from fighting to the point of major injury.

this guy is not showing any parasitic white any where .
pure black plumage and under fluff

he is super cool

I am envious of Tobambezi and his lack of parasitic white. You can tell just by looking at him how he would feel in the hands, solid and sturdy. Looks like he has been in a scrap lately too with that roughed up comb. He must be top dog, by the way he carries himself. I could use a cockerel like him around to help correct the parasitic white in my LA line. I bet he hatched from a nice dark egg also.

kfelton0002, he has a very adorable pouty face. I wish I could keep my Zorro and Blue Boy together, but I really think they would fight to the death. They are always sizing each other up on the opposite side of the fence, picking up pieces of straw or grass and throwing it at each other. The one time they were actually together they drew blood immediately.
