International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

if I breed black copper hen with a true blue (not BBS) araucana cockerel what colours would the chicks be?

another question about colours: my naked neck come from a flock where hens are all black and the majority of the roos look like birchen (silver with kind of golden sheen on silver). if I breed those black hens with a true blue araucana cockerel what do I get?

I prefer the specked one . especially when they get dark #7/#8 .unbeatable at show .


breed from this pullet regardless of her faults ,just to keep the speckles genes in your flock and select for the conformation latter . when the spackles/dark eggs genes strat to breed true .

she look to me she has a nice comb . need to be checked this pullet .

I disregarded her for the time being because she has a few white feathers on her head, and some random white ticking here and there. Her tail is high but she is a big plump girl. I will take pics of her tomorrow. She was super proud of her egg today and cackled for a long time so Im sure she would appreciate that you like it so much! Lol.

here some photos of Tobambezi ( Zambezi X Toby ) young rooster 0ne week shy from his first birth day .
Big solid rooster . his comb let me down . a little bigger and has a double point at the end .
I can live with that .
his colors are only getting better every day .still on the dark side .

this is a body type I want to breed true in all my marans cockerels all varieties ..

couple weeks to go and the eggs from his pen will go to the incubator . he is penned with his half sister ( all sired by my Zambezi ) line breeding half sibling method of breeding .
nothing will be added to this line tell the end of my farming days .
a same pullets will be mated to Norambezi ( his half brother) and Massai Mara etc.....
the pullets come from 6 hens and the cockerel are from 3 hens .

I ll cross this pullets to Djabel s sons K2 and Everest to form other parallel line

years of work is going to be put in to form the SUBLIME BCM LINE.

I do not buy chooks any more but I make them by they 1000 all marans

Today is just day 20. Overnight many will pop out and in the morning an incubator full of fuzzy black copper chicks will await our dear Redbanks.

She is plump indeed. I caught her up and she is in a holding pen now, her sister also. I dont want my Marans girls laying their precious eggs in the weeds. I may pen her with Apollo as he is pure LA also (and her brother) since I know what her eggs look like now and will be able to tell her eggs apart from Zanitta's.

took me 4 years to get this dude out .
I bred his mama /grand mama and Grand dad from the mother side .
his Grand Sire Black Mamba was imported as fertile eggs in 2013 . Black solid rooster with a bad long tail .
take time to build any line . I m not rushing . have all the time and space I need for my chooks .

you see how pretty is his tail and how pure black it is .
I always said we can breed any thing out and breed any thing true .if we put time and effort .
now look at the tail of his grand /grand son Tobambezi s tail correct and no sign of any white .
