International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I just now saw this! A unicorn!! BAHAHAHAHAHA! I literally laughed out loud!:gig

He is pure LA (line A) off Apollo and #60. I haven't seen him again to check his "horn" out. He must have a sense of impending doom and is avoiding me. lol
Well..... from what I have read on here it may be gone by the next time you see him.

here some photos of my dog Dingo s run . front of the property .between the road and the orchard . normally the fox used to come this way ,not any more .
4m wide and all the length of the orchard 55m. no body will touch his chooks now .he is so proud of him self . he think he is in charge of the entrance of the farm .he doesn t like the post man . come too close to the chooks .
last year, this dog was going to be put into sleep ,biting peoples .look at him now a king of his domain no challenger .View attachment 1210480 .

chooks man
Where is he?

Here is 6 days worth of eggs from my Marans, legbars, barred Olive Egger project, and Sapphire project birds. I will only set the eggs of appropriate weight but still pretty impressive for the winter in KY. :D

Pardon the lighting in the pic, I had to use a flash due to the low lighting in that room. The bulb is out and hubby hasnt replaced it yet.

Beautiful Eggs!

Hi, I am new to black copper marans. I had ordered some eggs from a special breeder who has almost 80 black copper marans. When they hatched some came with feathered feet and some without. Is that normal? They look like BCM to me. I am new to this breed so I though I would ask on this thread.:)
Welcome to our thread and congrats on your new BCM. This is a great place to talk about BCM. We have an exceptional group, supportive and knowledgeable. They should have feathered feet but some have more or less feathers than others. How old are they? Pictures? Does the breeder have other breeds? If everything else is pretty good feathers are the easiest thing to fix.

I think they told me Black Copper Marans is all they breed. Some of them look as if they don't have feathered feet at all though. They will be 4 weeks on Thursday.
Here are 2 of them without feathered feet when they were about a week old, they all hatched Thanksgiving except one that I had to save out of its shell.

Cute chicks! The English BCM do not have feathers, the French/Everyone else do. I am sure some others on the thread will chime it. Keep us posted as they grow. Your chicks are about the same age as mine 11/21/17. Mine have feathers but their sire Antonio is very light on feathers. He does have some though. All of his chicks have lots of feathers.
