International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I think they told me Black Copper Marans is all they breed. Some of them look as if they don't have feathered feet at all though. They will be 4 weeks on Thursday.
Here are 2 of them without feathered feet when they were about a week old, they all hatched Thanksgiving except one that I had to save out of its shell.

they are true BCM chicks . .nice eyes not dark .
don t worry too much about the fathered shank .some strain are not as stable as they should be .easy fix .

Maybe, but if not he will have to go. He is an eye sore with his "horn." lol. I won't use him if it is something that persists.

you ll have a better cockerels to select from for sure .
you want to select for health too . select the one they never goes sick and from any physical deformity .very important for the future .
it is a reason you need a few extra cockerels ,so when a time come to select you ll pick only the best one .Cream of the Cream .

I have 3 of Lucille's eggs in lockdown, along with 3 F1 barred Olive Egger eggs, and a few Legbar eggs in lockdown as we speak! I am so looking forward to seeing Maximus and Lucille's first babies!
Lucille is a blue copper so I'm hoping to see some blue copper chicks!

He inherited his mother's S shaped comb and he has marbled eyes, which are two strikes against him already aside from the bump. I am really going to try my best to choose males with nice eye color if I have a choice. I have nicer cockerels out there so far that I prefer to the cockerel with the bump. I can't keep umpteen cockerels around after they are mature so the cockerels that have numerous faults will be bound for freezer camp. I will give them all plenty long enough to grow out so I can tell if they are going to be worth keeping. For now we will call him Dumplings.

Brown eyes cockerel is a dumpling in my book .for sure .

Here is 6 days worth of eggs from my Marans, legbars, barred Olive Egger project, and Sapphire project birds. I will only set the eggs of appropriate weight but still pretty impressive for the winter in KY.

Pardon the lighting in the pic, I had to use a flash due to the low lighting in that room. The bulb is out and hubby hasnt replaced it yet.

I really like him .he has a lot going for him .so far only the comb need improvement .every thing else is admirable and nice .

body type .great .nice and long
,the back of it is touching .
Neck ,long and well arched at the top .great .well colored too .
Head .very good
eyes .well colored
comb I think need a little work
body color .great so far .
back ,long /flat and tilted toward the back .great
tail .very nice ,shape ,and angle .he is in the relaxed mood .
black plumage .pure and black
under fluff . black and pure
Shanks .well feathered and colored well spaced .

love the way he stand .
his chest is loaded with the autossomal red . good thing .a lot people looking for the black chest rooster .they ll only hatch black pullets .

he is better than his sire 100%

I wonder what the relation between Antonio s and Sister#4 ?

20 more .you ll be spoiled for the chose .good way to breed the chooks .

Yes.... He is better than Antonio... he has the good Antonio has to offer, mass. He really looks a lot like Claude. Claude pictures. Haven't seen that great big fan tail yet.... pray that doesn't show up!

I think it goes without saying that I am probably inbreeding.... but I am fairly certain that FRF only had 2 LPs. The rooster and a hen.
