International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Wow Francis is absolutely gorgeous .
that is the the true marans tail I m talking about . you crack it my dear friend .
her comb is good too .a little twist in the front is not bad ,
she has every thing we look for when we select the future breeders .
do not let be with amy cockerels neither rooster tell she is 10 months old .let her grow and mature properly .

Thank you!! . Im glad you like the 3 I was able to photograph today. I will definitely be penning those pullets ASAP. I just saw another possum outside and I dont want to lose them.

I looked through my bigger Marans chicks in the brooders and there is one black copper pullet afterall. The other day I thought they were all cockerels but I must have overlooked her so I'm happy. The pullet is off Apollo and Zanitta so I am looking forward to seeing her grow out. I have some cockerels in there from the pair also.

I lost one of my Blue Copper roosters today. I think it was Hulk. The one with the light grey under tones. Not sure why? I found no worms or mites. Gizzard was full with some grit inside. Crop had some grain inside. Head was dark and showed no signs of him being sick. I am wondering if he choked. That feed I buy can be like powder if they grind it too fine.

Whew Day 2 of incubation.
11 Ayam Cemanis (yay)
8 Chocolate Orpingtons (Yess)
1 FBCM
1 Americana

Lol the Marans and Americana were space fillers. Excited about the Americana because the hen is all white over a FBCM roo. Can’t wait to see the chick. The Chocolate Orpingtons weren’t shipped well so 2 are cracked, 1 has a saddled sac and 1 has a detached sac still. The cracked eggs got waxed and we are crossing our fingers for the rest. The Ayam Cemanis were shipped AMAZINGLY so they are all good.
And not sure who the FBCM egg is from or who covered her but... it was a nice dark egg lol. May just end up a stew bird.
Monday or Tuesday we have 6 BCMs shipping straight from Green Fire Farms along with 4 Solmalters (can’t remember how to spell them) which is cool. Can’t wait for chicks! Plus a calf some time this month and I’m still hoping for a hen to go broody so we can hatch our Marans. Too bad we lost our broody hen last year

Sad day! Where did you find him? No weasels?

He was in the big pen. My pens and houses are completely enclosed with 1/4" hardware cloth but you never know.

I don t think is the feed .chooks some time they just die . no explanation .some time they heart give up .
my Birchen line has this problem ,they just drop dead in the front of my eyes . they heart is weak .

Thank You! I am getting ready to put eggs in today. I hope for a better hatch. I did ice test on one of my thermometers hope to get my temperature close enough for a better hatch. Maybe get a couple good replacements.

you done great job .
I like those 3 young ones because they are better them they parents stock .there is a progress in there .
you are breeding well your BCM chooks .nice approach .every thing is mark down .Sire /Dam etc..................
all this work is paying of . nice young progeny .future breeders .all Pedigree
