I have 5 hens wanting to set and I couldn't break them. So we put them all in where my feed is stored. In a few days I will put them back and hope it works. Just as soon as we seperated them a hen jumped in the nest and is wanting to set. :hmm

Wow 5 broodies! That's awesome! The warmer weather brings it out in them. I love broody hens. I have about 5 broody also, but they're mostly game hens and only 1 Marans.

Lucille has decided she wants to be broody so I am going to give her some chicks out of the incubator tomorrow. She is currently sitting on 2 golfballs.

They have been sitting on air for at least a month now. I can see the headlines. Chicken lays goofballs and hatches chicks from them. It's a miracle! Lol

That would be a miracle! Lol! She is very protective of her golf balls so I think she'll make a good mama. I've had hens to sit on some crazy things... a small stump on the ground, rocks, or nothing at all like in your situation. They can be quite persistent so usually when we have a hen to go broody we just let her go with it unless we really need to collect eggs from her. I like to take their eggs if they are free ranging and give them chicks out of the incubator. It saves me from having to brood them myself. :)
