International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Just took some new photos of our BCM chick at two weeks exactly (along with the only other chick that hatched, a Cream Legbar) - I am still crossing my fingers that it's a pullet but if it's more likely a cockerel I'd rather know early on... thoughts appreciated!

I'd guess maybe pullet too but that third pic with those legs also make me lean towards roo lol I'm zero help lol

I say pretty early to tell as I had pegged both my fcbm's for Roo's with the size of their Combs . One ended up getting really red w big wattles so he was def a roo . The pullet on the other hand took a while to be sure with the size ,color of her comb . I asked the breeder if this line was known for larger combs because visually it took longer to identify her sex .
Everyone assured me she was dude lolol she was not lol Sometimes they are tricky but I'm still learning Soo take that as you will lol
Are you saying this chick was a pullet?

Oh- and what else-

Is anyone else's roo a little too polite? I fixed it so Chester could wear the pants without threat but I only see him mate his CLB sis. He walks up to the other 2 and just asks. Like stands beside them and arches his head over them after a shuffle and if they walk away - which they do- he just stands there. They don't argue- they just take a step and keep pecking. And he stands there like he doesn't understand why. I want olive eggers! Mount up boy! Be a man!

It beats having the pullet/hen abuser! My Marans cockerels are terrible!

If this is a pullet inside he is a cockerel.

I have a dilemma! I am going to have to get help narrowing down these cockerels. I have 4 culls now and 4 keepers. I don't need four cockerels because I still have Antonio. There are some really nice cockerels in this group and my favorites flip every other day. @kfelton0002 I have good tail size and angle on these 4, tail is never at 90 hardly ever at 60. Excellent type. I will take pictures tomorrow. Where is Chooks man? I want to know if I should cull Antonio. I hate to but his sons are better.

Well maybe if I can get fertile eggs I can help you out. But good god he a cockerel still and is supposed to be all clumsy and lack swagger but he's like the guy with no confidence standing against the wall asking for a dance

Edit: mind you this is the one I watched at 6 weeks hop on his roomie and perform like he was born to breed!

I actually made a post asking the sexes & posted pics of both birds ,I have to find that again . It was funny because everyone agreed yup you got two roo's so I spoke with the breeder and decided to swap one of them . I talked to him again a few weeks later to tell him I changed my mind because it had became apparent one was actually a pullet . He agreed it was taking longer to sex because the younger ones looked Soo similar .
I never wanted even one roo but since I now have a breeding pair if marans I said nix that order I'll keep what I have and btw do you have a swedish flower hen roo ? Man I'm in deep with the chickening lolol
