International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I still cannot comment the birds but I can comment rain. please send me at least a few drops! it hasn't been raining since mid may. I don't believe I am praying for rain, I usually hate it.

Hi Braxton Brigade ;

your cockerel is a marans X not a pure one . Marans X small breed.

He will give you a good result with the ameraucana .( hybrid vigor ) and better eggs color ( mix colored eggs basket ), where about are you , see what we can do to find you some marans fertile eggs to work with .

You are only 17 BRAVO . you deserve all the help. let me see what I can do.

here what I think of your pullets.

n2 and 4 are Faultless, I can t see any thing than greatness.

PERFECTION HAS BEEN ACHIEVED WITH THIS 2 BCM PULLETS. they are breeder of first class. let wait for the eggs color.

n 1 she is good but not great like the other 2 . her comb is not great S and her hackle color is more of the gold than copper.

n 3 .she is too black . but great type. a little cushion on her back is a fault too. let see the color of her eggs, they have to be realy dark 6to be a breeder.

I ll work with just n 2 and 5 with mate them to Rooster n1 and nu 3. that your 2 pair ( 2 X 2 = 4 combination )

nu 4 she on the money .

look at her type ,her back ,her Black ,her hackle, hre comb ( is the greatest asset )
I like a lot her hackle and the color of her feet dark grey with a pink hues between the toes . that is great .all her cockerel son will have a proper shank color light grey with pink bottom and rear.

mate her to all your 3 rooster nu 1 ,2 ,3 .you will end up with 3 different progeny .

Thanks Chooks Man,

I will get pictures of the 6 younger ones. Now I need to study hens. LOL...... we spend so much time on Roosters! I love pullet 4. Gabby! She is Miss Personality too. I am going to take better pics of the pullets from all directions the way we did the cockerels.

A little off topic but..... one of my Cuckoo's does have a lighter silver head. I thought I read something from you that I don't want that.

FeelsRightFarm had all the birds in one pen. Greenfire and LP. She has recently separated them. So my birds can be a combination of GFF and LP or Straight LP or Straight GFF. I believe I can tell the LP birds from the GFF even as chicks. The down was different. LP were dusty black and not so cute. Greenfire Farms were penquins. LP slower to feather, feathers softer, very flat black. FeelsRightFarm separated the LP last week and I hope to get another batch of chicks from her Straight LP.
