I like your approach .no hybridizing .great . work with a pure .
you seem to have a great line of ameraucana and RedBank is wailing to send a pure marans eggs wen available .you don t need some thing else.
just breed them to a higher standard and keep them pure.
to do a good breeding fo a long time without running into inbreeding problem you need to have 2 pen for each variety you want to keep .
one pen Cockerel line .the other pullets line. they can be related but with a little variation possible.
so you need 2 pen for the ameraucana and 2 pen for the Black copper marans.
you have a plenty of time to organize your self.
first you need to get the marans eggs and hatch them ,rise them and select a good one to breed from the next year ( so you don t need 2 pen for them yet ,future plans )
