I have to go to work now. I would like to stay right here and chat. Today is my birthday. I don't think anyone should have to work on their birthday. Oh well.... it is the ONLY day of the week that I work.

BTW, I have just weighed luna, she is 1,9 kg at 4,5 months old. I suspect tapeworms. what should be her weight?

one of my naked necks is coughing blood. she did that this winter too but got well in 2-3 days. as I heard luna coughing too as well as my young faverolles (future broody) I have just given them antibiotic (doxycycline). is it just any respiratory issue or there is a disease that causes coughing blood? I am so worried about luna but my property is small and I cannot keep sick birds on a 30 meters (100 ft) distance. not to mention sparrows and doves.

yeah there is a disease witch cause coughing blood in poultry , it is respiratory problem called = infectious Laryngotracheitis ILT. causes about 10 /15 % chicks mortality .

there is a vaccines for it , but a good antibiotic will help .

I ll not keep a chooks if start coughing blood. too risky . Because it is a virus , can hang about for a wile if it is giving a chance to establish it self.

I ll ask Monique and see what product is used to treat it in Europe .

I don't have a lot of choice: doxycycline, oxytetracycline and baytril. only a few of my mutts have had ILT and a naked neck is one of them. I am going to give them some duck eggs and honey. it helps them when there is a virus around.

yeah i ll breed from him if he have a lot good quality .make sure the hen face /head is perfect ( comb. wattle.size ).

this sort of thing could be bred out very quickly 2 generation max

One wattle mated a good face hen will give you a 2 wattles son s to replace him .
