International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I'm trying to post a picture of my blue French copper maran from my phone and when I get to the replay box which one do I select to upload a pic from my phone?

What about the blue French copper maran.
Blue Copper Marans are a project pending for me at the moment. I haven't set my Marans brood pens up yet. Very excited about them though.

If you have any feel free to post pics. We love pics. ;)

Edited to add: saw you were having difficulty posting pics. I have a hard time from my phone also sometimes. Try emailing them from your phone to your inbox then uploading them from your computer. That's what I find easier.

It is a mild 49 degrees today and I went out to try to snap a few pictures of my Black Coppers. I have to say, Cooper (LA cockerel) was feeling extra photogenic today and I was able to get some great pictures of him. He is such a good cockerel, as gentle as they come.

Mud, my best FRF cockerel is also very friendly and seems to enjoy my affection. Their calm and gentle nature is just another trait that makes me love Marans.

Pardon the muddy run. We've had some rain the past few days. Also pardon my son's bike in one of the pics, and the blue game barrels. I live in Redneck, USA.

FRF pullet

Same FRF pullet

And last but not least, here is Mud (best FRF cockerel) with his inherited Greenfire Farm high set tail. But his back is the longest of that group and he doesn't have a side sprig like Rusty, his runner up.

The LA pullets didn't feel like having their pictures taken today. Such Divas they are.

Can you please explain this better? I have birchens and BCM but I'm 98% sure they will be separate at hatching age.
However, your comment made me curious. What would result from a birchen male and BCM female; or, a birchen female and a BCM male?
Silver based? what does this mean?

if you have a birchen hens than keep them pure please , do not mix them with a black copper ,that will introduce a straw color hackle and shoulder on the birchen rooster ,very hard to get ready of.

We can cross the Birchen rooster to a black copper hen and get a Birchen pullets with a golden leakage plus a gold / silver impure cockerels all cull .
than we cross back the pullet to they sire ( Birchen rooster) to get F2 generation pullets , Keep doing it for a few generation tell you see the birchen cockerels and getting a pure silver hackle and shoulder .

i m working on the same project .started with a Birchen hen and a Black copper rooster ( better if was other way around) , now I m in the F3 generation and still have a problem with a straw colored hackle and shoulders in the cockerels .

Thank you! Mud (the second cockerel) has come a long way from the awkward looking critter he was a few months back. Mud will cover my FRF pullet and best two Splash Copper pullets, and Cooper will cover my three LA pullets in a separate pen. Mud and the FRF pullet are 6 months old, Cooper and my LA pullets are 7 months old.

Cooper is definitely lacking in the breast. I'm hoping he will fill out a little more as he matures. Otherwise I think he is a lovely cockerel.

Forgive my ignorance, but is a Splash Copper part of the BBS color group? As in, is a Splash Copper just like your regular splash color type or does it have the typical feather colors of Splash but with copper hackles and shoulders, deeming it a 'Splash Copper'?
