Congrats!!  I've always heard good things about Brinsea incubators, but I've never owned one.  We have only used GQF incubators.  I really like the design of Brinseas and I reckon they hold their temp rock steady.  Post pics of your chicks when they hatch!

I think I had humidity too high based on what I saw for the Marans eggs. Next lockdown is Monday but I can stretch it to Tuesday, I hardly ever have early hatches. I'm gonna dry incubate these till then to get a little more evaporation going... I hope it's enough!

So... we finally got an incubator!! It's a Brinsea Octogon Advance. Anybody have one? We hope to start hatching soon!!

I had a same one when I started . one of the best incubator out there .

i purchased the Brinsea 560 cabinet plus the Hatcher . waiting for them to be delivered .

here some up date on the little chicks .they big now and venturing out of they comfort one .







I m well happy with them .
this group is a mix of a 8 and 7 weeks .they still on the chicks crumble high protein 20% .
next week i ll start giving them a pullets grower 18% .

today is the last day of my breeding season part 1 ;
tonight I ll separate the roosters from the hens . some of them stopped laying ,others are not far off.

they did great ,well proud of them .
they are going to have a great rest for 4 month . they deserve it .

now I can spoil them with sun flower seed .they favorite treat .and a lot of cat food for high protein .

my last incubator is going to be filled tonight .

45/50% is very good for the marans eggs .

Oh no! How are you going to resist setting eggs when your Brinsea Cabinet comes in? I think I'd have to scrounge up enough to test it out!...lol

I have to give them a break ,they done enough .

I have enough chicks from all the breeding combination i made .so i need time to let them grow and see witch combination worked better and witch one was wast of time .

next breeding season part 2 of this year .late winter .I ll have enough data to put together better breeding pens. every body is tested now .

by the way the Brinsea cabinet incubator will arrive late early June .that what they said any why .

any way here the up date of the little chicks .they are big and healthy now .

a lot to choose from ;

this pullet has a nice body type but she have also the white flaking on her chest . daughter of Tabrinne ( Toby )

this pullet has a nice coppery hackle and nice body type ,daughter of Shakeara.

pullet 3 nice body type but no sign of any copper yet .her mama is black too ,Susan

all the 3 pullets are the daughters of ZAMBEZI.

pullet 4 Birchen ,nice body type and well spotted chest and silvery hackle . love her back long and flat. daughter of Copenhagen X Erickson2

pullet 5 Birchen as well ,great body type .nice flat back and well spaced legs and strait . really chunky ,Daughter of Stockholm X Erickson2 .

this time I hatched less chicks than what i m used too but better quality and healthier chicks .
i m loving to be around them .easy to care for better than 2and 3 thousand .

cockerel1 Wheaten .well chunky and great type well colored ,his body is pure black no flaking . son of Maggy X Morgan ( line breeding .son over mom )

cockerel 2 ; Birchen .great body type. nice long flat back .well feathered shanks and strait ,nice thick head . well build ,son of Stockholm X Erickson2

cockerel 3 Birchen ,a true F4 mean his mama is Scandinavia ( the mother of them all ) X her F3 son/great son Viking2 .
viking 2 his father is Viking1 he him self is an F2 ( Scandinavia X her F1 son Erick.
this cockerel is the heaviest one and greatest body type ,nice pure silvery hackle start to show up


he is sublime .nice to have him around .he is the only chick i managed to hatch from Scandinavia before she passed away . she left a legacy . she done well

Cockerel 5; F1 Split white .from a Birchen hen X White Storm . love his silver hackle ,shouldn t be pure silver but it is .some other genes in play her .

cockerel 6 F1 Blue silver/golden cuckoo son of Bella X Shamrock . great body type ,well chunky and correct

there is more to come .they still young not fully feathered .
