International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Here are the eggs from my first LA pullet of this year to lay. I had actually given her to my neighbor as a layer because she has a horrible high tail, lo and behold she was the first of all of them to lay. My neighbor took pics to document her egg color for me. The pic with the egg card I took today. She went out of town and we are taking care of her chickens while they are away.

These are her first eggs, not in order of how they were laid. The first egg on the right was the first egg, the egg on the farthest left was the second egg, and the egg in the middle was the third.

I like him. I like his rectangular body. You improved Copper's breast. Love it when it looks like a boat bow. He is like Antonio with flame and a halo.

Thanks! You're right, I noticed his breast was improved over his sire's also when I compared the pics. Glad to see them moving forward some. I like meatier breasts also, because when we eat the culls we won't just be stuck with mostly thighs and legs! lol

you gave your luck away to your neighbor s.

she lay very nice dark eggs .

I ll not give a pullet like that to any body even if she has not got a tail and the wings ,as long as she can lay those gorgeous eggs .

I keep telling you guys ,the eggs color is very complex matter .we should trait it that way .
any thing else is very easy to fix or to breed out , but not the eggs .

i still think this pullets should be a breeder .personal opinion

This is Green. He is the only one with "short" tail. I think the leg band bothers him that's why he is raising his leg.

green is a keeper for sure .love his body type and his tail ( shape /size and angle .
this cockerel will help you to put some gorgeous tail on your BCM pullets in the future .

keep you eyes on him for me please .I ll love to see fully grown ( mature rooster)

i ll breed him just for his tail if I had him .

STUNNING .look at the size of his rear and the thickness of his shanks .
I love his wide shoulder ,the width of his thigh area ( sign of his daughters will lay large egg and good layers too )
his tail forming a nice ,well shaped pyramid . wider at the bottom and close at the top

Gorgeous specimen . well built and well put together .

Ah the white fluff ?
he is loaded of it I can tell from his fluff at the rear NOT pure black is more of dark grey

he need to be mated to a pure black pullet ( under fluff ) to correct it. only the cockerel progeny . the daughter will take colors from him along .
