International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I tell you how to get a black Birchen from your birds .play some music to them when they are incubating .hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
I though you gave up on them and got ready of your silver cuckoo hens . they where the key to your project plus few years of breeding and selecting .

One more year and I will get serious about Birchen.

Another thing I look at is a flat chest. I know that is NOT going to give me the rectangular body.

flat chest with a long back will give you triangular body type .

Deep /Wide chest with a long back will give you rectangular body shape

Deep /Wide chest with short back will give you a boxy body type

Flat chest with a short back will give you bad body type marans no way out .

Thanks Chooks man! Now if only they would start laying so I can put some eggs in the incubator. We have one pen ready for single mating, going to build a few more 5x5 pens for the rest.

I love the colors and cooler temps of autumn too. Its a nice break from the heat of summer. :)

Going to rehome Antonio's son. I just don't see anything I want.

Are you sure? I swear I was close to culling my FRF cockerel when he was around that age, he was hideous. But as he got older he looked better. I would hang on to him for a bit. Your cockerel looks leaps and bounds better than mine did at that age.

I love to know how much they really weight ? Kg? or Pound Ib ? please .
those 2 blue pullets will give you huge solid cockerels 100% .

if the weight of the marans pullet is around 2,5Kg or 5 Ib at 6 month old it is a sign she is going to be big girls . future mama hen for sure .

I have a digital gram scale that meaures in different units of measurement for postage (pounds, ounces, kg, grams, etc.) I have to get a battery for it but I can try to weigh them on it. They're big hefty girls. :)
