International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

my pullet is still alive but weak. I think she will bi sick for at least 3 weeks (virus). I am sick too, probably virus, too.

the pullet had swollen throat but she never gasped again. I think she was short of oxygen in the dog's crate due to ammonia. her poop was smelly. I took the roof/top off and she has more fresh air around. she ate some banana and boiled egg. I still syringe her honey water with vitamins.

it is cold these days. the other girls are recovering but their wounds need time to heal. they eat, drink and lay. the boys are ok so far.

Glad to hear she is still alive! Maybe the virus will run its course and she will be okay. Take care of yourself too! Hope you both feel better soon!

few photos of my young chicks .running around very hard to photograph .

the heat does not seem to bother them at all .they are never on the same spot .every thing is new to them so they keep running and running .

chooks man.

Snapped a few quick pics of two of my cockerels free ranging before it got dark. The rest were scattered everywhere after feeding time so I couldnt get closeups.

This one looks a lot like Apollo when he was that age.. high tail and all.

This younger one in the next pictures has a decent comb but will have a high tail also. He has very little leg feathering. Both cockerels have inherited Apollo's lovely even copper, no halos so far.

Very nice! Cant wait to see the silver salmons! Your chicks are gorgeous!!

So I just flipped back 10+ pages trying to find picks of your beautiful marans and came up empty. Was just explaining to my man why we are going to buy and fortify a $650 store bought coop for my spring project of raising some more marans from the breeder we got chester. It's pruning season on the farm and with our own hobby farm there are just too many projects to build another coop like our main one. Going to take the easy way out this year and plan better for next. If I have good luck maybe we can do a little trading :)

Now show of them Roos!!!
