Looks like you are having great hatches!! I have never hatched a chic!! I have 15 BLC Marans in the bator, I have the temp 99.5 to 100 looks great holding 99.5 to 100 degrees. What humidity do I need?? I have heard all th way from 10% to 45% for the first 18 days??

My humidity was holding between 35%and 40% The Marans eggs have thick shells.

Thank you, I can hear a peep coming from the remaining eggs. It has shown no external pip. Poor baby I wonder if I should give it a air hole? I know we don't want to breed forward the weak.

Remember, nature does the first round of culling for you by allowing only the strongest chicks to hatch and survive. My rule of thumb is, if a chick is not strong enough to pip on its own I don't intervene. In this case, it is best to allow nature to take its course and the chick will soon run out of oxygen inside the egg. It's hard to walk away I know, but it is best. The chick is too weak to pip for a reason and is likely deformed or has another issue you don't want.

I usually am setting and hatching other breeds in with my clutches of Marans, so I don't run an incubator specially for Marans eggs. I run my Sportsman with a humidity of 35-40% and increase that to about 65% in my little hatcher during lockdown. All of my breeds hatch pretty well that way, from my Games, to the Legbars, and the Marans.

Hi everyone. I have been away for awhile. I hope everyone and their marans are doing well. I had 12 chicks hatch on Easter Sunday. They are more F1 generation. Zorro x my Hazel, Onyx and Styx. I just wanted to share a few pics with you all. I have alot of catching up to do.
