sound great .around 6 square meters by chooks .a lot of space .
if you want to have a green grace or vegies for them ,you can ,just need to design your hens houses with 2 run one for a summer 6 months rotation.
grow stuff in one run for 6 months than let the chooks get access to it . grow stuff in the other run for 6 months and do a same thing .
it is better for them to have 3 green square metres than 6 metres dry .

I ll hep you design them .just tell me the location of your selected place for the chooks .how long and wide .facing witch way east or west ,any tree around .some photos will be better for me to see the landscape .

unfortunately nothing grows with this heat. the green run would be plain dirt within 3 days.

they will have vegetables from my garden. it will be more work for me. we have to cover our vegetable gardens with the shadow cloth if we want to have veggies in summer.

I plan to reserve 18x20 m (x2) and make a big pen 18x1,5 m. each pen will be 3x1,5 m in a 20x3 plot. I might not be able to make all 12 pens at once but I will start with 6.

the north part is slightly up the hill. no trees at all but will be planted in each run. I will put some pallets for shadow and hiding in case of need.

I don't have any photo but it is bare mediterranean reddish land.

you are looking after them very well . they should be happy .most chooks they can only dream about what you are giving to your chooks .

what do you give them to worm them ?

chooks man

I mostly worm them with natural staff mixed with teir feed: wormwood tea, garlic, pumpkin seeds, chilly peppers, from time to time blue stone and vinegar in water and if they get overloaded with worms I give them pills for dogs that contain praziquantel and febendazole. there is no chicken wormer besides levamisole but that never killed any worm in my flock. my nightmare are tapeworms. cats and wild birds spread them.

congrats!

my marans hens are 2 years old now. some of them used to be small but got bigger after 1,5 year. only 1 remained small. the only good thing about her is egg colour. she will be my future olive egger breeder. I do not discard any marans so far.

sound good .
you can do a lot with those pen when finished .a lot of space for a chooks ,

plant grape vines in they run ,so they can have a lot of shade .

if the tapeworms are caused by cats and wild birds .why not cover the top of the pens so ,nothing can go in the chooks pens .
if you cover the top with a chooks mesh ,grow some grape vine over them . lot of shade and no access for a cat and wild birds .

I like the chicks that hatch chunky and ready to go .
