Thank you so much for your feedback. I look forward to working with them this year and see what they'll produce.

I ll tell you what they produce =
correct body type
correct mass
correct head
correct eyes
correct tail shape and angle .
correct legs
correct plumage type and colour
correct stand .
correct copper type

Perfect X Prince = correct comb
Perfect X SW = correct and complete body pattern .

Faults you need to watch for .
shoulder pattern on both progeny ,has to be complete and early too
Combs and wing from SW progeny .

you see my friend I do not see any thing bad will come out of those 3 chooks .for sure will be some culling but will be more gorgeous and correct chooks meet the SOP.

here the method you need to use to breed the 3 stars you have .Perfect .Prince and SW.
this breeding program is based on perfect as the foundation hen . both cockerels will be the Sire s .
Step 1 = mate Perfect to both boys .hatch 2 Dz chicks from each pairing .
Step 2 = select the best cockerels {2 will be good 1 of each cockerel to keep both sire line going }and the best pullets from both .
Step 3 = mate Prince son to his Dam Perfect and the half sister from SW. that will give you 2 combination ,
Mate SW son to his Dam Perfect and his half sisters from Prince ,2 more combination . now you ll have 4 different combination from a ame 3 chooks .
sellect well .you will have by now hatched some gorgeous pullets from both line .
keep doing a same thing .cockerels from one pen are matted to pullets from the second pen .
perfect will be the Dam of all the future cockerels . tell you find a replacement from her new daughters .

here how I m working with her .to spead her good genes around all my flock .any variety .
Step1= Matted her to Black Mamba .Solid black rooster = not relatted .= produce 2 good cockerels . Blue Mamba and Blue Nile plus 1 Blue pullets . The cockerels I m after .
Step 2 = Matted her to Big Blue from a same line could half sibling /sibling /cousin = produced . 1 good Blue cockerel .Blue Monkey and 1 Splash cockerel Dalakhani plus few pullets . both cockerels are keepers .

Step 3 = matted her to Day Walker ,Blue Tail Buff .proper body type and Stand .chicks will hatch today and tomorrow , and more chicks will hatch in th next 3 hatch .expecting few goreous cockerels from them and some pullets too .

from Dalakhania and her son s I will make many marans line in many varieties .all with a same body type .

I will work with her daughters too ,but in different way .

She is beautiful I really like her. I hope you get a good hatch. I had a white Cockerel attack me this morning. So not as sad he will be soup.

Day Walker .Blue Tail Buff .best cockerel in the farm .he is almost complete ,few issue here and there but nothing alarming .no DQ
here now I m working with him = this method is selective pen breeding with back crossing to the suprime Sire Day Walker
Step 1 = matted him to my best 8 hens .all have a proper body type and a proper egg shape OVAL and dark colour #5/#7 . they all have they strongest points and a weakest one too .but they complete each other ,no 2 hens carries a same fault or share a same fault with Day Walker .
i ll hatch 10 chicks or more from each hen .my first hatch will be today .
select the best pullets .each hen should be replaced with her best daughter. mate those selected pullets to they sire DW and produce pullets from each hen .
I ll keep doing this back crossing tell I get 100% Red Marans .line bred strain .

I ll be culling for any deffect .only the best of the best will breed . taking no chances .

i will not let you cull a cockerel off this type even if he had horns never mind Split wing .it is just a problem like others ,just SOP make the things sound terrible DQ .
clean leg is DQ but it is the easiest thing to fix .
SOP talk about show chooks .they never describle the breeders .we as breeders .we have to find way to produce show birds quality .
we are breeders ,so we are the one who decide what to breed in and what to breed out .the SOP tell us what they like to be achieved but they don t tell us how .they only tell us DQ.
we are trying to breed breeders first .The parents stock .when we achieve that ,we start breeding show quality birds .no DQ no any other fault .
for the time been ,we have to work with what we have .

That's very true. No one ever started out with perfect birds so we must work with what we have an improve upon it generation after generation.

I am down 9 roosters and 1 pullet. I sold the splash cockerel and pullet. I kept the original Birchen, original Blue Copper roosters. Of course I kept the BCM AND BLCM cockerels. I only kept the original Blue Copper rooster incase something happened to one of my cockerels. He will probably stay in my layer grow/out pen.
