My second solid black hen. Black Caviar true sister . She is as tall as her sister but she is a little longer . With a longer flat back . Still not as rectangular as I like them to be . But good enough. Love the colour of her feet’s not too dark at all well pinckish.

Would a black copper hen ever have pink legs? I've seen black copper roosters but never hens have this color.

The pink legs.
Would a black copper hen ever have pink legs? I've seen black copper roosters but never hens have this color.

black mamba her father had a pinkish grey legs , she seem to inherited his legs color
black copper they have darker legs because of the breeders , the breeders always select for darker legs they think if thy have pinkish legs they must be wheaten carriers , so wrong no true. so they select the ones with extra melanin darker leg that why we have so any black copper hens are all black no hackle marking or just menimum .

BCM 2 years and 4 months old hens Gazelle #2 daughter of CTB over Gazelle. She is big and chunky like her mother . She is 3/4 Oz line and 1/4 import line.

Splash copper rooster 2 years and 4 months old . Khabib#2 son of Khabib over a splash copper hen I don t know witch one because they hatched under a broody hen. We where doing pen breeding that time. Any way he is better than his father . He is 3/4 Oz line and 1/4 import line

His is standing in the middle. The other splash rooster on the right half of his body is showing is a Splash Conan a son of CTB over a BLC hen he is 50/50 Oz/ import line . Different style. Both are selected for breeding this season.

What benefit is there to using an older hen?

My darkest egg comes from a 3 year old hen and I wondered if there are any benefits to her egg compared to a 1 year old.
