Judith2 and JR are brother and sister.
Judith's progeny. Same sire.

For a long time I thought Judith2 was laying the big speckled egg It looks like her mother Judith's egg.

But it is #115 white. No relation. Different original line.

most of the time pullets don t lay eggs similar to they mother s because they take a lot from they sire .
line breeding is the only way to stabelize the traits.

And this is how we get dark eggs but ugly Marans!

Lesson learned.
Mistakes have to be made in order to learn. Haha

that good ,we need to keep all the traits ,we need them later when the breeding program become well advanced .( after we fix body type and dark eggs laying traits)
breeding from pairs/ trios or line breeding is the best way to maintain and fix all the traits .

Looking in my notes Moonshine is also 3 years old. From the same original line as 115w.

All the rest we have kept are from last years hatch.

Nice to know we still have 2 older hens no related to the rooster s.

here the list of my breeders hens this coming season ,the oldest are 4 and half years old the rest are 3 and half years old.
I selected only the finest hens to work with . selected 26 out of 87 hens ( the third ).

BCM = LoveSong , Madonna , Philippine all 3 years and half plus Amore 4 and half years old .

BLCM= DarkAngels , MamaSasha , Brahma, Wyclaw , DackEye , Mesha ,Saradesse, all 3 years and half old .

Solid Black =Ravendale ,Shiva both are 4 and half years old plus Zenyatta and her sister Black Caviar both 3 and half years old.

Splash copper = Bullet Train , Rafiane , Kind all are 3 years and half old.

Cuckoos = Zelda and Kalatoom both 3 and half years old .

Unicorn ( Red Pyle ) 4 &1/2 years old
Fiona ( Dominant white) 4 & 1/2 years old
Red Hen ( Black tail buff ) 4 & 1/2 y old
Presidente ( Black tail buff ) 4 & 1/2 y old
Enkia ( White tail buff ) 3 & 1/2 y old
White Orchid ( Receissive white ) 4 & 1/2 y old

they will be bred to many different roosters .
all this hens are proven to produce great chicks and they are robust and resilient . super healthy , they have been free ranging all they life with a minimum medication ,last 2 years they had nothing . solid birds .

BLCM = original rooster Conan the Barbarian import X lisa s line , 3 & 1/2 y old

Solid Black X BLC = Omar son of Amor and CTB ,I m not really sure if I will use him .

Cuckoos = Shamrock ( silver dark Blue ) 3 & 1/2 y old
Rashad = Dark silver/ golden cuckoo ( Shamrock and DarkEye s son ) 2 & 1/2 y old

Blue tail buff = Day Walker original . 4 & 1/2 y old
Elvis = Red Pyle = unicorn and Day walker son 3 & 1/2 years old

Yellow Birchen = F1 Birchen Shamrock son a BLC hens is his mama . 2 & 1/2 y old

import line are marans imported from UK in 2014/15/16 legal importation . they are europien marans .
most of our marans are very old frensh lines brought to the country by peoples in form of fertile eggs .Elegal we call them OZ lines .
I have both lines .
