International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Your chick look l
Great! I have a fully grown male who had some major frostbite issues during the winter that affected one of his legs badly. He has never fully recovered and walks with a slight limp. I will probably put him in a soup and use this new chick for breeding purposes.
ike he will very nice comb . Hopefully is not too big to be safe from the frostbite .
Let him do some growing and keep posting news about him . Looking forward to see him when he is older .

Yep, one big pen for my layers and then three smaller pens. Brahma pen with only Blue but eventually another adult roo who can breed (mixed colours).
SD Welsummers, with two cockerels. Splash/paint Silkies, one Roo called Footloose due to a sixth toe on one foot (usually looking after younger birds)
Then the layers with three roos. Loki (BCM), Thor (my scruffy original Wellie I’m trying to sell before I have to cull) and Freddy (Thor is his father to Brahma cross Lohmann brown mother). I’m keeping Loki for breeding Marans and Freddy to breed hybrid layers with a variety of egg colours. Hopefully going to sort out smaller breeding pens where I can pair smaller groups of birds to breed before returning them to the larger pens. Looking to get some legbar hens to breed sex link olive eggers using all of my males. I have pretty much every shade of Brown/white egg so want breed each shade onto green eggs to complete the egg rainbow!

Here’s two boxes of eggs I’ve sold today. Now everyone is laying I can arrange them by colour so they look nice. I love having all the different shades.

Colourful looking boxes.
Yeah I see you need a true blue egg layer to cross it with yours to get more colour .
Here the eggs I get from my flock
