International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

It could be.
But also had a few chicks that had a hard time hatching. The last chicks that struggle from high humidity.
After they hatch, they seem to take a longer time getting up and walking around. Could this cause the toe to bend?
I'm guessing she was probably one. But it's only an assumption.

I don't get many with a wonky toe but every once and a while it happens.
I would think if it were genetic or vitamin deficiency I would see a pattern or more chicks with this problem.

The few times I've caught it and taped the toe flat. The next morning I take the tape off and the toe is straight.
Is caused by hatching problems and the plastic on the hatcher . The chicks when they hatch they can t have a grip to activate they toes properly .

I took photos of a couple of the older, confirmed pullets while I was moving them to their new pen.

Leg color is light on all pullet line chicks. Interesting.

I will say, most of these pullet chicks are from 2 or 3 hens.
I only hatched from the darkest eggs in this pen.

Pullet line, Mr. Good comb sire.

I know this pullets dame is white band. Big, dark, spotted egg.

she has a long body type and lovely stance .I m not too worry about her toe ,
this pullet has so many great traits at a young age . every thing about her is great .so one deformed toe I don t think is a problem ,maybe for a show but not a problem as a breeder . let see how she mature ,she still have a long way to go .
great stuff appears at the young age and she is showing just that .
great work @Punkybrewster

Chooks Town! :)
That's a lot of work!
I love the planned set up.
So organized and will be easy to work in.

We have been relocating and rebuilding our coops too.
Nothing like yours but a much better set up than what we had.

They are combined.
They get morning sun and shade the rest of the day. It is very hot and humid in the summer where we live. The open design works well here.
Winters are mild but there are exceptions. Their roost is sheltered from the wind.
...and they rotate free ranging out.

Yesterday we started a construction of the large chooks shed. We are using a lot of steel as a main frame . Steel is more stranger and durable . There is a lot creature in this forest love to eat wood .
