@Chooks man not marans but if I breed silver hen to split silver/gold roo (egyptian fayoumi) what do I get?

if you do that ,more than half of the cockerels will be pure silver and pullets will be mostly silver too but some will have yellowish type silver and few will be golden .depond on how many you will hatch .

thank you. I hatched 2 cockerels and 1 that might be pullet and is golden so far. a guy brought some hatching eggs from his holiday in egypt and always hatched silver fayoumis. by chance the cockerel I got from him is split silver/gold and I had a great hope to hatch golden fayoumis. nobody in greece has them so far so I find it a big blessing.

if you get a golden pullets than it is easier to get a golden variety started .

An interesting cross.
This is Fret. She's a Marans/Crested Cream Legbar cross.
She lays blue eggs. She inherited the Marans general tail shape and lost the crest. She kept the feathered feet and is Crested Cream Legbar size.
She lays about 160 eggs a year.

photos of the hens house .just added soe roost bar to it and fixed the run ,added a big run so the chooks will have a lot space ,I ll be using this coop to house the chooks when I get them from the north .

this guy cockerel 1 is better ,great copper ,wide at the shoulder and at the rear .little taller on his feet and his tail is little longer but full at the right angle ,he is still growing we will see he need to fill up more .the point on his comb are not neet some are forming M type double .
