International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I'm going to completely block the North and west sides of the new run and only have the south side open. East side is the barn. I'm wide open like you. Roof will be partially covered with steel and clear panels and 2x4 cattle fencing on the rest. I'll tarp the roof when forecast calls for heavy snow until I can get the rest of roof steel.
The pool won't be in there. Just temp for the ducks. Lots to do yet but future plans are to build an identical one on the other side minus the space for the man door. View attachment 3675541View attachment 3675544

Sorry to hear about the chooks you lost. I do have a row of fruit trees planted that will eventually serve to block at least some wind i planted them last year but they are still young and have a lot of growing to do.

I really like the looks of the white marans. Is that black and white one a legbar?

Sorry to hear about your chooks, my friend. Myself and @Tstraub have similar weather being just a few hours away from each other. I'm finding the new place is a lot windier location which makes the cold worse.
"Cuts right thru you to the bone" is a term we use here.

Bad for the chooks.
