International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

So much info here... I actually forgot how much and this is the second time re-reading this thread. Some of it is starting to stick. Other info is like Chooks Man says.. bla bla bla. 🙂

Hopefully this applies to Kong's comb....
the type of comb come from the mother hen. she have more to do with it than a rooster.

How we fix this problem ?

if we have a rooster with so many quality but with a bad comb than we have to work with and fix the problem .

we have to find a hen with a great comb even if she is not good in other thing ( except the mossyness . i never breed from a mossy hens ) we mate her to the Rooster we selected and we hatch some F1 chicks ( a lot of them will have a nice comb).

we select pullets from this F1 progeny with a good combs and mate them back to they sire F0 ( Rooster with a bad comb and other good qualities ) = we get the F2 progeny .a lot of them will have a nice comb and other good quality from they father.

we chose a cockerel from this F2 progeny with a good comb and other quality of his father and mate him to his dam/ants and produce F3 most of them will have a great comb and the qualities we kept from they sire.

Et Voila .

In my free time I've been re-reading the thread and screen shotting all the info to my notebooks. I found this and wondered if this would apply to what I need to do.
I don't have the Bator capacity and would need to scale it down to just the one roo.

what you question ?
the dominant parent in the mating will pass down the autossomal genes . some chooks are geneticaly stronger than others .they are the one who will be dominant on the mating .

Looks like you got that incubator all dialed in. Lots of good healthy looking chicks this time.
23 weeks today. Hatch was Saturday June 17.
I'll try to get some decent pics today. I know I say that then get busy doing other crap then the day ends.
We got snow coming 2maro and everyone is freaking out. 70% chance of around an inch...
#facepalm
We have a snow possible here tomorrow as well. Just a dusting, maybe an inch in some scattered places. I’m not looking forward to it because my job is outside a little bit of snow makes things tough.

Here are a couple quick shots of my girls hatched out June 26 so a week and a half behind yours
