International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Thats really cool! I didn't know they would eat nuts. We have two smaller walnut trees. They have had nuts on them for about the last 7 years. Our rottweiler eats the nuts as they fall. We didn't get many this year. She ate most of them. Now I need to get to them first and see if my Marans will eat them. Good protein for them but high fat content. They would make a really good snack in the cold winter months.
My dog loves them too, you can see her trying to get in on the action in that last video.

So cute! Your Marans look well loved and tame. I like to tame them also but haven't been out as much anymore. The weather is really cold and my health isn't as good as it use to be. I worry about my dog she cracks the shells open and could break a tooth. I thought about removing the two trees but I haven't. I seen on our local rescue page. To keep all leaves and nuts picked up because of the mold that forms on them are really toxic to dogs.

Hope your health gets better for you.

It’s been 3 weeks since Axl got frostbite. The dead parts fell off last night.

I’m glad to hear you’re Betty is laying again. I’m still waiting on my Betty.
Thanks..
I was surprised. No warning at all.

Joannie's been scoping out the nest boxes over the last few days so I actually thought it was her at first.
I found a pic of I believe her last egg she laid, or pretty close to it.

Nov. 16, 2022.. it was a lone super small egg but her usual dull sheen. It's sitting next to one of Joannie's eggs which I've said that I'm almost positive that is Angel's dam.

Sounds like you’ll be all set to hatch out some chicks this spring. I’m hoping to set eggs to hatch on Easter, hopefully my girls start soon so they can get past those little pullet eggs and be laying full size eggs by early march.
