Oh wow now I'm really wondering what my eggs will look like and what the hens that hatch will lay. I would never be so lucky. I should be lucky though because these eggs cost a fortune.

I have 2 seperated shipments. One should arrive this week and the next will be late April/early May

Nope. Different breeders. I figured better chance at nicer eggs. 2 different people.

View attachment 4086696View attachment 4086697I can’t temper if I’ve said it on here, but I’ve ordered 5 pullets from a breeder I’ve been in contact with (I failed to hatch 10 of his eggs last year). 3 dark cuckoos (English) and two black coppers (French). Those gorgeous dark eggs are the coppers, the paler ones are the cuckoos (still the darkest DCM eggs I’ve seen).

Just wanted to show off the egg colours that should’ve making there way into the GCM project.

Depending on your future goals with them, consider leg banding to keep both lines identifiable from each other.

That's really pretty. What causes the speckling or not speckled on the eggs?

Thanks! I like how rich the colors are with the marans. I’m not really sure what causes the speckling. All of my 5 marans have sort of speckling.
