International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

My BCM eggs are supposed to arrive today. Unfortunately the guy put them in shipping on the 28th so it's been through the weekend. What's that 6 days in shipping? I bet they are too scrambled.
I don’t think 6 days is terribly concerning presumably they were just sitting in a temperature controlled warehouse for a couple days part way through the journey. Probably not a whole lot different than if the breeder would have held on to them for a couple days to avoid the weekend.

When they arrive should I let them sit and rest with air cell up for 24 or 48 hours considering the longer ship time?

A few pics I took today... It's impossible to get all of them in the same shot.

I posted the rest in my thread.

I don't rest shipped eggs, maybe a few hours from the time I pick them up at the post office. The way I see it, whatever damage that's been done is done and no amount of "resting" is gonna change that. I do candle before putting them in the incubator to be sure there are no cracks. You'd be surprised what hatches from saddled, broken air cell, eggs.

I was just having a read of the French Marans club website. Something I noticed is that they do not describe a dark cuckoo variety at all, but instead seem to call the standard dark cuckoo ‘silver cuckoo’.

I feel like this should be a chooks man question, but does anyone know if this means that the standard French type cuckoo is genetically what we call dark cuckoo in the UK (barred blacks) or what we call silver cuckoos (which are barred Black Silvers)?

dark cuckoo is not recognized colour in france. silver cuckoo are those that have silver hackles. gold cuckoo have gold hackles.
