International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

@Chooks man you may have seen my pictures already but I wanted to show off these few to you. My favourite pair of silver cuckoo English and black copper French Marans from this year. Unfortunately I lost the BCM cock but have his sisters and dam. I’ll get some pictures of the nice dark cuckoos soon.View attachment 4270607View attachment 4270611View attachment 4270610View attachment 4270608

Thank you so much for the compliments. I learned a lot from you, you even shared this thread with me, so thanks for all that. Hopefully I can improve the UK’s marans stock by sharing my eggs and knowledge.

The silver cuckoos are F0s, so I was very lucky to get such a good pair to hatch out, but I did search through all the sellers to find the best parent stock. Their eggs are a bit paler but the dark cuckoos will help fix that, they are from a dark egg line from a good breeder I trust.

Next year I’m going to cross the two lines to finally get started with my Golden Cuckoo revival project (as they are suspected extinct in the UK).
Thanks again.

Here’s Chanel, my F0 BlCM hen. She’s getting old but has been the dam to my best French marans. She laid 7/8 coloured eggs in her first two seasons. @Chooks man you liked her most when I first got my marans, and I can understand why.

when she was a pullet.

I would love to have a carbon copy of her in my flock. Absolutely beautiful, my friend.
I’m hoping I can get a cockerel off her next year. She’s had 100% fertility in every hatch I’ve done from her, even this year with her being 3 years old. I want these genes for fertility and longevity, plus her type just seems to refine with her age.
I’m blessed to have had her as my F0.

I like her because she was a complete package at a young age .every about her is great ,what a fine specimen she aging very nice like a fine wine ,happy for you to have her as your F0 hopping for you to get a cockerel from her so you can conserve her sex linked gene in her line
