Introducing baby to mom

But I have a couple questions. You mentioned another thread that I haven’t seen, so maybe you addressed these questions there, so I apologize if you are repeating info.
Are you incubating the ducklings, then giving them to the broody? How long was she broody? Were the eggs originally with her?

Well at least your getting some hatching. I hope the one hatching wrong end makes it out. @WVduckchick can help with wrong Enders. How’s the baby with the red belly?

Red belly isn’t red anymore. It was a tad swollen now, but it looks completely normal now. I put it with mama and baby, it was scared of them until I put it under mom. Baby refuses to leave her now, so it worked out!

I took half the eggs my duck had laid and let her be broody four, incubated the other four. The four under her didn’t survive and I didn’t think these would, but they are hatching now.

Thank you! I didn’t know they were going to ever hatch, I’m so happy they are hatching now!!

So sweet and Congrats! The window is going to close soon for her accepting so hope your hatch is about over . After first week here my Scovy girls won’t accept someone else’s ducklings. First week though they are happy to let all of someone else’s join the crowd.

I’m hoping these other two hatch fine and soon(by the way they are progressing, should get them tonight or tomorrow) and I can put them straight under mama!

Thank you! I’ve done it with all batches that had a broody mom, just an extra pro caution so I don’t have to go get some babies from the feed store
