hi! I’ve asked on the chicken side forum

But was sent here

We have a cage with many hens and one rooster . Also have 3 turkeys in there. 2 f 1m. The female are brooding everything and anything at sight so mostly wont deal with the little ones just yet. I’m mostly worried about my male.

I was told to let my 2-3 months old chicks ( been in a separate cage to keep safe in the main chicken cage) out and let stuff happen. My only concern is my turkeys in there. Should I still follow that advice or hold off till they are bigger. They are royal palm, not sure if breed matters for temperament‍♀️

I would never (again) have young chickens anywhere near a tom turkey.
I had two different toms (also royal palms) try to mate younger chickens and kill them. Also had them kill a young chicken that was acting sick once.

OH What the hell! F that I’m not letting them loose lmao we have some rare chickens in there. He was acting dumb when we first introduced our couple of ayam cemani. I’ll talk to hubs about making a turkey pen instead and put our turkeys in it. Should solve many problems. More work but oh well. It’ll be worth it in the long run! Thanks!

Doesn’t the same rule of not little things with the Tom goes for turkeys too? I have some 3 month narrangasetts (3) and 2-2 red bourbon/ gray slate ( 3 weeks) both batch are with some chicks random breeds. Should I just separate them and send them in the turkey pen or keep the turkey and chicks together, send them in the chicken pen and let them grow and send in turkey pen when they are grown?

Do you actually have Gray Slate (BB cgcg Dd EE NN RR SlSl SpSp PnPn) or do you have Blue Slate (BB CC Dd EE NN RR SlSl SpSp PnPn)?

When hubs and I refrer to them we don’t go by their breed , gets confusing with the names we come up with lol

Yes you obviously don't refer to them by their breed because their breed is Turkey. There are many different varieties of the breed Turkey.

I asked because to many the Blue Slate does look gray but it is possible to actually make a Gray Slate which is just one of the many varieties that I have not seen.

Well seen that way obviously, but I more meant we give them names.. our tom royal palm is mr belvedaire for example.

But anyways I meant we have blues
