(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Hi everyone, my name is Britt and I live in western North Carolina with my partner. We've been raising chickens for a little over a year now and jut recently got a new round of chicks and ducklings.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We began with four and have lost two over the last year, one just recently, sadly. But we have 3 gawky teenage chicks to look forward to adding to our tiny flock soon.

(3) What breeds do you have? We have a Golden-laced Wyandotte (how do you pronounce this? - I never learned, hah) and an easter egger. We recently got two Silver-laced and one Welsummer. As for our ducks, I'm pretty positive we've got a drake Peking, and two females, one Indian Runner and a Blue Swedish (but, again, I'm not sure -- they're from the "assorted" TSC bin).

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I've been frantically searching for answers since circa early 2017.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I'm a student of literature in the beautiful Smokey Mountains, so reading, hiking, napping are some of my favorite hobbies when I'm not working, studying or taking care of chickens, ducks, or dogs.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. There are some down the bottom of the page which are duck specific.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
