Hello there!

I go by Lia online. I'm a first time chicken owner. I have 6 adorable little fluff balls that I bought at a Theisens farm store 3 days ago. Assorted pullets, so no clue what my babes are, lol.

I live on 7.33 acres in central Iowa. Married, 2 kids (4 yr old son and 1.5 yr old daughter). We have a 5 yr old boxer, 13 yr old manx cat, 2 paint horses, and 2 goats. Hope to add either Dexter or lowline cattle to the mix soon. I'm also a novice gardener.

I work a factory job driving a fork lift and grew up on a small cattle farm in southern Iowa.

Thank you all for the very warm welcome!

I had a Manx cat, it was blind from birth but it would catch full grown rabbits!
That's amazing! But honestly I'm not the least bit surprised. My boy, Riddick, has caught rabbits and even brought me a LIVE baby bunny. He is also credited with killing my dad's turkey, has been seen stalking rooster pheasant and possibly killed the guinea fowl that was on our property when we bought it. Might have been a fox that was in the area too. He is a real killing machine but also a highly intelligent cat. He is probably the biggest threat to my chickens in the area, but he and I have a unique bond so I'm hoping he will understand that they are my birds and show them mercy. I had a pet rodent at one point that he had numerous opportunities to eat and never harmed so its not a baseless hope. Time will tell.
