Yeah, like your Riddick, he would catch mice, song birds, etc...he was also about 13 when he disappeared, probably a coyote got him.Thank you all for the very warm welcome!
That's amazing! But honestly I'm not the least bit surprised. My boy, Riddick, has caught rabbits and even brought me a LIVE baby bunny. He is also credited with killing my dad's turkey, has been seen stalking rooster pheasant and possibly killed the guinea fowl that was on our property when we bought it. Might have been a fox that was in the area too. He is a real killing machine but also a highly intelligent cat. He is probably the biggest threat to my chickens in the area, but he and I have a unique bond so I'm hoping he will understand that they are my birds and show them mercy. I had a pet rodent at one point that he had numerous opportunities to eat and never harmed so its not a baseless hope. Time will tell.
It was interesting and comical to watch him navigate. Like a pinball, ping here, zig-zag there, he knew from muscle memory where things were...funny and sad at the same time. Eventhough, blind, he lived a pretty normal and good life.
