The best offense is a good fence. Why do you not have your female, intact, in heat dog behind a fence that no other dogs can get into. Theres a big difference between what people SHOULD have to do with their dogs, what DECENT people would do with their dogs, and what really happens in real life.
We cant control our neighbors, their animals, or their anythings. Thats why we have solid wood fences. End of story.
Its a fool that looks around and says, "stop effecting me", instead of setting up their life to be uneffected.
If you want to have something done about it all, pick up the dogs one day and dump them off at the nearest shelter, or call the dog warden.
I agree with you completely that these people should have their dogs contained, but not doing anything about your own needs and property is just silly.
raw wood runs only a few cents a linear foot for pine or hemlock. Both make easy strong long lasting great looking fences. Its what we use, works well for us. We is po right now too, and still managed to fence our property.
I know you can make a really nice looking dog yard for about 200 bucks, ours was abut 25 foot square- maybe a little bigger. We used those garden planter poles they have in the summer from depot or lowes- theyre like 2x3 or 3x3 treated as posts. And then tacked welded wire fencing to it (about 4foot high by 50 foot long runs like 40 bucks or a bit more) with some raw lumber furring strips tacked to the tops and bottoms between poles. It was INSANELY cheap, looked really decent, and went together in no time.
I totally agree with the post below- some times our responsibilities as breeders take us to extremes.
