Hey all,I saw an add on Craigslist and found out there is a guy selling 6-7 week old coturnix quail for $3.50.Is this a decent price? He said they would be available around mid april which should give me plenty of time to get the new breeding pen set up.Speaking of which I thought I could make this https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=10901-cage-page .I will put wire instead of plywood as flooring, does this sound good?

yes that is a good price

it i sfair market value-retail price. You could probably find them cheaper at an auction, but from a breeder you get good healthy stock if they are good!

Nice, thanks guys.I think I will probably order around 10 of them and hatch out there eggs in a big home made incubator im making then build up too around 30 females, sell there eggs over the summer at farmers market then at the end butcher around 20 of the smallest and save the biggest for breeding next year

depend on your area............i see them sell for .50 to 3.00........but heck if you want some whats a few dollars. To me I look at the low prices they sell for , whats a dollar or two.

When I paid as high as 25.00 for some bobs.

EXACTLY! PRICE IS A VERY REGIONAL AND MARKET DRIVEN THING... SOME PLACES EVERYTHING COSTS MORE= HIGHER PRICE ON BIRDS... SOME LESS- LOWER PRICE ON BIRDS.... AND IF YOU FLOOD THE MARKET THEN THE PRICE USUALLY DROPS AS WELL.
