It sounds like you have a very nice set-up outside for them and they should be fine. The timer is a great idea. I wish I would have thought to use a timer. We kept our little ones out in a garage for the first few weeks and I would have to plug in/un plug the light each evening/morning. It was too hot in the day time with the heat we had this summer. Everything in our garage got covered with "chicken dust". I read on here about the dust factor. . . we're still trying to get rid of all of the dust that landed throughout our garage.
