They'll ease into it like the other lux brands are doing too. Performance hybrids. Like the Porsche 918 Or the Merc AMD GT 63 S E. Where they're using the electric to hammer early torque to the ground while the ICE winds up to it's powerband. We'll Get M hybrids when BMW is really ready to get into the game as more than a trend. They're testing that at the track now in their IMSA V8 M hybrid. I don't think we'll see the higher end brands ever develop practical EV's, because their owner base wants zoom zoom and vroom vroom. I could maybe see a modest range 911 EV from Porsche, maybe even some Audi or Lambo from VWAG. But that market sector bleeds 93 octane and they will have ICE models at the front of their brands for the forseeable future.

It will be interesting to see if this proposed ICE ban in 2035 in Europe sticks. That will be telling on how all these brands look forward with their products and try to hold on to their markets.

Porsche and Lambo are performance focused cars. And, especially for Porsche, they’re not going to (most likely) makes practical EV, because they don’t do practical gas cars. It’s all About the performance, not practicality.

I would have agreed with that but then Porsche made the Taycan, which has 200-240 miles range. VW really wants to get that EV platform they developed into as many consumer cars as they can to recoup the spend

The Taycan is 1: A performance car, and 2, really expensive. Same things goes for the Panamera. They’re more practical than say, a 911, but still not that practical.

Depends on the brand, really. Most of the higher trims have had it as an option since 2012 or so. VWAG (VW, Porsche Audi, Seat, Lambo) has been standard on all trims since 2017. Volvo too. AFAIK Nissan still doesn't offer it on most models (not that Nissan drivers would use it anyway) Honda was only 2020 for all models. Before that it was the high end trims.

US makers I'm not sure it's all trims yet. They have this annoying habit of building cars that are crap so I don't usually shop them for features.

And sometimes backwards. Bmw has sunroofs standard and slick tops are special order. Dealers will have a couple non sunroof but those are like a $400.00 special order. Or thier 4 series gran coupe. 4 series are 2 door 3 series. So they have a 4 door they call a couple.

Or how about a manual gearbox? Makers that still offer them charge big time for them.

Good times when it was flipped. Standard was well, standard and auto cost money. The LSD in the M cars are nice too to add to that standard
