Is anyone starting eggs in the incubator today? Tuesday, May 26

ok update I've got a 2nd one that zipped & not the one I thought was ready to zip..... I must just not have seen this one??? Anyway I'm feeling a bit better now about things in the bator being ok after slipping in the other egg. And now with the lawn bowling I can hardly tell which egg that was...... LOL

I am envious of all the chicks!! They are all so cute!!

I have 4 pips! Yay!!!!!!!! I just got home from work and saw 2 easily. When I shined my mini-Mag Light in there I could see a total of 4. I am so excited! Let the hatching begin! I will update when any of them hatch and of course I will have to take photos of my 1st hatch ever!!!

5 have pipped now. I'm not sure if the other happened since I have been home or if I missed it the first time. I can also hear a light chirping coming from one of them, but I'm not sure which one. That means at least one is still living!

I'll bet all of the pipped eggs are still alive. & now do you find yourself checking every 30 sec. to see if one has zipped? It's gonna be a long nite I bet so try to pace yourself especially if you're going to work tomorrow & need to sleep tonight. I have SO much trouble sleeping when the hatch starts....

Just checked again (yes, every few minutes) and I have 6 pipped now. I know for a fact that one must have just recently happened! One has the very end of a beak sticking out of the hole just a bit. I got the flashlight out again to show my husband and we both saw it open and close its mouth. Of course, I am doing the happy dance all over the place now!!!!

I guess cause it's a make or break kind of time.

With that said I now have 5 chicks & 1 egg has not hatched or exploded but kind of looks like a chick was trying to zip & yet it's just all ozzy stuff like the yoke that's seeped out.... It's weird & so I'm down 1 egg... but so far I've got 5 out of 11 & I think another working on zipping so it's going ok here.

We have 7 that are alive and kicking, but not fully hatched yet. 4 have no signs of hatching just yet. We actually started out with 17, but I already pulled out 6 that weren't fertile after about the first week and 1/2. I was right about those when I cracked them open. (They were all from a friend with free range chickens.) Out of these 11 that are remaining, at least 7 appear to be trying to hatch. We also hear a loud cheep every now and then followed by some lower cheeps between them.

When someone says the egg has zipped, what exactly does that mean? Is that when the opening spreads or when the chick actually pops the top off of it?

I got 5 chicks in brooder, one drying in bator. 4 eggs are still not hatching....one started pocking 2 days ago then that was it! Looks like he gave up. I am tempted to see if he is alive but if he is not ready, it could kill him.
