Motorcycles are allowed to split lanes here. Its tolerable when you're driving normal speeds, but when you're stuck in traffic (which is 50%+ of the time) & you're trying to change lanes its a nightmare. Imagine trying to squeeze into another lane while all the cars are stop & go at 5mph & having motorcycles come out of nowhere going 65mph in your lane. Its impossible to see them coming when you're stopped & they're going that fast & its impossible for them to see you have your signal on... Disaster waiting to happen. Its no wonder my 17yr old doesn't want to learn to drive.

Splitting lanes is INSANE! No one I know will even try that. To much road rage and people tempted to "put the pinch" on a bike.

I woke to single digit temps and snow.

We get some nice days during winter. We also have a plague of distracted drivers so best to ride in a group.

Even with my new loud pipes people try to change lanes right into that big trike.
Seriously! It's bigger than a "smart car" and WAY louder. How do they not see it right next to their drivers door?!?!

Because they are looking for cars.... Dad was a rider in his youth... Harley and Indian... He said look twice once for cars and once for Motorcycles.

Then there is the defensive driving thing... I drove a Geo Metro for about three years. Great car BTW... Good mileage got it cheap... People didnt see me... So I took to making sure to stay out of blind spots and if that was impossible Driving up so they could see me then backing off.

Then I got my Dodge Cummins One ton... Arrrhhhh... So Now my signal never says "Excuse me" "Excuse me" "Excuse me" To the snooty Lexus or BMW s.... Now It says "Move OVER" "Move OVER" "Move Over".... Bwhahahaha... And its just disrepbutable looking that they take me seriously...

Yes, that is plain crazy!! No matter what, there's always somebody who has to be a jerk and ruin it for everyone else.

Yeah. Disgusting. Everyone that wants one of those should be forced to drive standard shift.

Oh theyd figure a way.... I always drove a standard... Corvair even... The throw on that was a good foot... Or so it seemed... Back before panty hose... YEP...

When I got my first pair of panty hose I could put em on while driving to school... cus it was against the rules to wear a skirt without hose...

Don't get me talking about bad driving. I have a dash cam and some of the things I see are insane. I don't know if you have a particular make of car over there that tends to be driven badly but over here it is normally BMW or Audis! Am I allowed to say that!

I miss my one ton. We lovingly called it the great white money pit.
Even in that I had a very close call. I was driving on a 4 lane highway with a giant turning lane in the middle because of so many businesses. No raised median.
A complete idiot in a big van decided to flip a U turn putting him DIRECTLY IN MY LANE. I literally stood on the break to avoid hitting him.
My poor foster dog was thrown to the floor so hard it knocked my shifter for 4wheel drive out of position. I had to pull over. That same IDIOT and his family poured out of the van in the parking lot a block further up the road. Seriously! Kids from tween to two and two people with casts on.
The foster dog had a cracked rib and bruising. I don't think I have EVER been madder at another driver.

Yes I chased him down on foot in that parking lot and let him know exactly what I thought of him.

Tecnically they are supposed to travel no more than five miles an hour faster than the cars. A Co worker got a ticket for lane splitting on his way to work. He was laughing...

"But officer lane splitting is legal..."
"Yeah but not at sixty five when the speed limit is 35"

I am a mirror watcher... I can see one coming for about ten cars back... Most drivers I see will squish over a bit to let em come through. Thats regular commute traffic... But Dang there is always one that cuts it too close and another that doesnt see em.

I never rode motorcycles myself I was always Riding shot gun... only time I ever experienced lane splitting was on a Honda Gold Wing... Heading for the Mule Lip saloon in Colton, to go dancing. I just about had to change my pants when we got through traffic.

That was before there was freeway all the way through ... Stretches of hiway interupted by Stop lights for cross traffic....

Crazy... Dancing was great though....
