I’ve seen some sources say that it’s very good for chickens, as it keeps mites out and gives them a dry space to dust bathe, so i figured it would be good to put it everywhere, but i’m seeing some sources say that it can get in their lungs and kill them! which is true? what do i do?

The consensus view on BYC is that it is not effective on mites or other such pests.

ChatGPT AI says:

"it can also cause respiratory issues if inhaled, leading to lung irritation and chronic conditions. Additionally, DE can cause skin irritation and dehydration in chickens due to its drying properties"

It's usage comes up on a regular basis with folks on both side of the issue.
