Is Eggbid.com a rip off?

I thought they can take it out of a bank account? Also if you do get stiffed, you can press charges in small claims.

you cant get money from an empty account, do you have any idea where eggseller1999 lives, and if you find out where they live are you gonna travel to thier state to press charges?? I think that is where you need to evaluate the seller and his feedback prior to bidding. That is why you can often get a bargain if you are willing to take a chance on a NEW seller. You can also be the next person ripped off by a shady seller.

Bottom line You take chances no matter who your buying from online be it eggbid/ebay/ovabid etc.... Hate to say it but you also take your chances with members of BYC. If you saw :

Selling show RIR eggs

I would definately think twice before sending money to him/her
However if you see she has a couple hundred posts it makes her seem like less of a gamble, and after a couple members post how wonderfull her eggs were can feel better about letting go of your money.

i dont like egg bid cause wether you are getting eggs or birds, eggs you get screwed to the fact that they may not be fertile and if they do you dont know if they have a disease or a bad gene somewhere. birds maybe laced with god knows what and alot of the times you dont know if they have it even though you quaritine them. for instance gape worms by th time you find out its too late cause they all have it. thats why i only get from a hatchery and have them vaccinated for the things i can. in order to stop the disease and parasites from traveling from 1 place to another. doing that you know that the peeps and birds are free of this

...and that's why we have THIS thread...

If you treaten that you will press chages thy should give you your money back. Also if its small claims they are supposed to come to your state if you press charges. You can see where they are from when you get an invoice from ebay.

Forgot to add: Thats why I never buy from a new seller and never let buyers with 0 feedback bid on my stuff., I got screwed 5 times by new buyers.

You can get lots of problems from hatchery chicks. I don't know a single person who vaccinates for every possible disease or tests for all of them either. Good luck finding a hatchery that does so too. Did you happen to see the McMurray dying chick threads? You might want to go read up on those. MS is basically in every backyard (including yours)...just to put this in some perspective. If everyone thought the way you do, no one would have any birds.

:| Ok so here it is on Day 24 and I have had one Bantam hatch out of the original bunch. Less than 10% hatch rate is no good...but at least I have one of them.

The seller when he shipped them did say that some of the eggs were a little old and I emailed him and told him that I only had one hatch fully and he offered to send me a second bunch when his girls start hatching again in the spring. All I have to do is pay for shipping...and wait until the spring!

Anyways....we'll continue along with ebay and here and see if I can get my 3-4 good Japanese Bantams. Wish me luck!

Oh and the other 10 (Leghorns, Speckled Sussex, 1 Jersey Giant) are all doing fine!

Anybody want to purchase a few of my fuzzy butts? Real cheap and I won't gouge you for less than 25 ordered ha ha! (Serious...I just checked my municipal code and I'm over the chicken limit!)

Alot of people like to buy hatching eggs and most spend alot of money for 6 or 12 eggs plus shipping look at the money she has in one chic plus worring for three weeks about the eggs being any good. I wanted some Japanese banties so I ordered 25 littles one so I would get a few pullets out of them and I paid 1.67 each for a grand total of 41.75 for 25. These chic's came from a hatchery along with 20 silkies 25 big chic and 7 duckes I had them almost a week and lost three banties the third day and didn't loose any sleep about getting the chic except when the post office called when they came in.

Update on my frizzles and silkies, as promised. They were not from eggbid - they were from Dipsy Doodle Doo here on BYC.

My October 6 due date hatch is progressing well! I had a dark color frizzle hatch early last evening. By this morning I have:

8 mixed frizzles
1 white silkie

5 more pipped frizzles and silkies!

If all the pips hatch fully, I'll be over 90% on this hatch. I am very pleased. Definitely this purchase was not a ripoff and the eggs were fresh and fertile. I would definitely buy from Dipsy again. She sent mixed frizzles and silkies with extras.

Eggbid eggs are looking good also. Lots of developing chicks coming along.
