Well I posted on the nearest Craigslist under the BArter section.

Stated that I get at least 6 eggs a day and sell my eggs for $2 a dozen and the veggies I was looking for. Said I wanted someone either in or close to my town and that we would meet at public location.

I had high hopes, but for 2 days I got nada. Today 3 days later I finally got someone IN my town who has SOME of what I was looking for and will have more of what I was looking for later. So we are emailing about how many/what kind of eggs he wants and how much his produce is worth.

I have a good feeling about this guy adn MAYBE he won't be the only one to answer the ad so, yea i'd say it's worth a shot for anyone else also.

The big one I posted on is actually 25 miles from me but the closest and the biggest in the state.

This MAY turn out to be a win/win as I am not crazy about gardening.

I posted under Barter section. I thought about posting under farm/livestock, but didn;t as I thought it might get flagged.

there are quite a few little trolls that cruise on CL just waiting to nab you. I once posted for a wanted BO roo ad under farm/garden but this little bugger flagged me and I was forced to repost in wanted.

Well I finally talked to guy, very nice gentleman.

I swap tommorow for garlic, squash and onions. He wants just a dozen a week. Told him what I wanted of what he had this week and said either give me what you think $2 worth is or would you like more than a dozen eggs? He just wanted the dozen. So I HOPE this works
out long term. Next he will have tomatoes and green beans. Corn later and another round of lettuce and brocolli.

So although I only had one answer it seems that it will work out.

Thanks to this thread I am bartering for zukes and yellow squash. My plants succumbed to vine borer. I posted on CL in the free section, I didn't know there was a barter section.

This is not crazy at all!! In fact its very very wise....
I barter my eggs for hay and straw bales, I got customers who do arts and crafts and sell from home so I barter eggs for some of their products, like recently I traded 2 dozen eggs for 2 beautiful knit beanie hats for my DD, the hats were going for 10 a piece, and well she did a great job on them :)

I also traded a dozen eggs for a whack load of Rhubarb plants, now I will have rhubarb at home every year!! I trade eggs for all kinds of things, come July to the end of the farmers market I will be trading for home made jams and jellies, relishes and farm grown produce from a farmer just down the street, his zuhinnis and squashes are massive, and his zuchinni relish recipe is to die for!!

So I say, barter away!!

I was blessed enough to know a doctor who's now deceased. He use to take anything in exchange for their medical care. People would give him eggs, chickens, or crafts. He was a wonderful caring man. I see no problem trading for something you don't grow. I trade egg to friends for fruits or veggies. We have not started our garden yet. I have one friend who cans, and always brings me salsa and jam
