Is it just me? Is this the end of the forum I used to enjoy so much?

I've not read this thread yet, but a few quick items:

1) The staff are happy to let threads like this go on as long as they remain positive and helpful to the community

2) The Random Ramblings section exists to provide a social environment for our wonderful community. Without it, the site would be dead during a good portion of the year. So, if you had to choose between the following, which would you pick?:

(A) An active forum where there are a lot of social threads and at least most of the chicken questions get answered, or (B) A forum with no social threads where you'd be lucky to find more than 20 people online at once and most are just browsing and not posting (or answering questions) ???

3) Regarding what topics are allowed and are not allowed, this thread (and MANY like it over the years) should cover it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=182235

We
love the community and love chickens. Please trust that we know what we're doing... so far we've got an almost perfect track record running this community and this is just one reason why BYC is the best and most popular chicken community on the planet.

I think of this site as an informative social gathering place. I have learned so much and had fun reading and replying to some of the off topics and that is what a good community is all about. What does not interest me I ignore... I am never bummed out because of what is said.

A fantastic question!

We have a perfect group of staff members from all walks of life, political views, genders, religious beliefs, etc.

In general the staff, as a group will discuss things that are over the line and then decide which action is best to take. The fact that we're all so different helps us ensure we're not heavily biased one way or another... we ARE biased to ensuring our community is a friendly and helpful place!

In general, if you are friendly and kind in your posts and try not to leave room for misinterpretation, you'll be fine. If the staff see something inappropriate you'll always get a few "warnings" before action is taken (unless you go off in a crazy swearing rant).

On a side note related to the total differences between all the BYC staff members: You know what... we all get along with each other... I mean, we REALLY REALLY get along well! I consider the BYC Staff some of my best friends that I respect more than most. If the staff members, being so totally different from each other, can all get along as well as we do, anybody can!

Show all the differant people on here, first place I go is to the peafowl forum section.

Some section I have never been to, no reason to remove them.

Haven't any of your grandparents said "Don't let the door hit 'ya where the good Lord split 'ya"? I love this forum, especially in the summer when school is out and I dont know what to do with my time!

Personally, I really don't care that the OP chose to leave,. Why try to convince someone how great BYC's is? If they don't like what they see let them go, there are plenty out there who love the forum.
By the way YoteTrapper, I disagree with a lot of righties here, but because of our great constitution, even they have freedom of speech!

If you don't like one thread, move on to the next. There are hundreds of topics. Why would someone quit because of one?

My Grandad used to tell me that the Constitution of the United States guaranteed all of her citizens, the right to complain about anything, at anytime, for any reason. Unfortunately, there are some of those citizens that seem to have made it their life's profession!
Sorry that you are upset, but, it seems that as a member of BYC forums, you are given the right to choose which forums that you want to read. If you don't like one of them, quit reading it and choose another! JMHO!
