I have 3 white wyandotte hens, who are 25 weeks old. One started laying 3 weeks ago, and another, yesterday. The third has been going in the nest box for long periods of time for the past week, but has not laid. She is acting normal, otherwise, eating and drinking and walks around the yard with the others, but I'm starting to wonder if she's egg bound. I felt around her vent and don't feel a lump, but I'm not really sure if I'm feeling in the right spot. Has anyone experienced this behavior prior to the first egg?

It is normal, she is just trying to get it figured out

She should be laying soon.

Thanks..I feel a little better. The other two didn't really do that, well maybe for a day or two, but it's been over a week, so I was getting a bit worried. This is my first time with chickens, and I'm loving it!

Your welcome! I will tell you the same thing someone here on BYC told me. Relax, take a deep breath and enjoy your chickens

BUT don't ever be afraid to ask questions.
