Is it okay if I fed my 6 week old chicks later feed?!

Chickens that don't lay (roosters, chicks, and very old hens) can't have layer feed because all the extra calcium hurts their kidneys.
What?? I thought roosters could eat layer feed.. how do you know this? And what about old hens.. when are they old?

Yes...Rooters can eat layer....No big deal.....old Hens can too.....:th.....
Keep on as you are....:frow
Can and should are two different things. It is scientific fact that excess calcium causes damage.

Layer feed has too much calcium for chickens that don't lay eggs. All the extra calcium is for strong shelled eggs. But, if a chicken doesn't lay eggs (roosters, chicks, and very old hens that don't lay anymore) then all the extra calcium will damage the chicken's internal organs.
