is it optional to turn eggs on day 18

Assuming these are chicken eggs, then you can stop turning as early as day 14 without problems. Most people stop turning at lockdown, which is usually day 18. Good luck with your hatch.😊
14 seems abit too early to stop turning. Earliest I've stopped turning is day 16, or 17.

You are right, it’s not that I recommend that you stop turning at day 14. It’s just studies have shown that it’s OK to stop if for some reason someone was unable to keep turning their eggs i.e. going on a weekend trip or something of the like.
I personally stop turning my eggs at day 17. But then mine tend to hatch a day early too.

I had 1 chick out of 4 get stuck at the 14 day mark during a staggered hatch. I don't remember if the chick survived, or not though.
