is it posible to incubate a chicken egg using body heat?

As LG and several others have pointed out, your external body temp. isn't warm enough to successfully get an embryo to grow healthily . Keeping eggs warm during a power outage in your bra or your sports cup is completely different than full on incubation. You cant lie in bed for a full 21 days can you?
I totally get the novelty of it, I really do, but the practicality of it and the sanitary questions are overwhelmingly in the 'best to get an incubator instead' camp!

So this will become the "what I did on my summer vacation" paper when you return to school? Hope you have enough time before school starts to get it done...

Personally I don't think I would incubate an egg from scratch using body heat. First, I have a life outside of chickens, and second, the chances of the chick having issues, even if by some miracle it did hatch, would be far to great a risk for me.

I may try it, like if a broody leaves her nest, or an egg hasn't quite hatched yet, and mama chicken(or duck) leaves with her brood. I wouldn't really try it for the novelty, I am not one to try things that could endanger a (potential) chick for novelty.

I think you should tell your parent or caregiver about this, as it is neither safe(for the chick) nor hygienic. If you would like to hatch eggs I highly reccomend getting(Building or buying) an incubator.

I have the feeling that this is a future story that you may never live down... Think what future family gatherings will be like when some family member once again brings up the subject, "Remember when (your name here) tried to hatch an egg in his jock strap!!!!???? All at the Thanksgiving dinner table are now:lau:lau:gig:lau:lau!!! If you are doing this because you need a rooster, there are plenty of those to be had for free, everyday 100's more need to be rehomed....
