is it posible to incubate a chicken egg using body heat?

Yesterday at about 6 i went to the local farmers market for an egg to hatch they said yes and now i have one. When i bought it i was going to use it for merengues i was 1 egg short using 2 store bought eggs, but a question came to mind and i looked it up and it seemed possible eanoughf.i then read a similar articol on hear exept she had kept it in her bra im keeping it under my arm in a cotton bag to help not break it.Hopefully it hatches im also undercovers all the time so fingers crossed will keep updated.

Well, if you think you are up to the task, and potential heartache of this by all means, go for it! You'll just likely have to break the news to Mom soomer or later, she may get suspicious if she hears peeping coming from your pants or shirt...

who is that and also i started to hatch a plan what if i created an incubator for the chick to have 5 other siblings seperated by a couple days im still curios if i can do this but the thought of it dying just because it was newer kind of makes me sad but i have no idea how to make an incubator and i have no way of making monz

A much more viable project for all concerned would be for you to make an incubator. You can make a reliable one for less than $25.oo. I bet your Dad would even help. Before you proceed any further with this particular egg in close body contact, I urge you to do a google search on cellulitis. Then, come back and tell us how wise it is to have an egg against your skin 24/7, even if there is a layer of fabric between skin and egg.

Besides, when you do return to school, how cool to be able to claim that you are the ONLY KID IN YOUR SCHOOL who has built and used an incubator to hatch a clutch of eggs! A much greater honor IMO than keeping an egg in your jock strap.

ok so rthis wasnt a consern for me im not going to get into depth why but just now that if there was another case of pinkeye i would not catch it even with direct contact. eanyways i read some of it but then realized it would also aply to the egg so it would just get sick. OK ill stop maybe later in life i will try again maybe with some plastic wrap around the egg or maybe... well for eanyone else out there that ponderde this just dont not because it wont work but what if it does work but the chicken dies as soon as it comes out. do you really want that also if anyone has any idea how and where to build an incubator please let me know

Do you have a heating pad in your house, by chance? A good thermometer? An empty spray bottle you can clean out and fill with water?

Try doing a search on this site, or on google about making incubators from household items, and see if you have the supplies at home. You seem to have good initiative, so next step is ingenuity and engineering.

DIY incubators can be made, but they aren't usually perfect, so you may still run into problems with embryo development. But try it anyway! I'd love for you to be able to say you did it, for anyone who thought you couldn't.

Please remember that the chicken embryo inside the egg has to have access to Oxygen, that is why the eggshell is porous with tiny holes. Your incubator will have to address this problem. I am afraid you aren't aware of it because you state that you will wrap the egg next time in plastic wrap, which would effectively smother the chick embryo. Those here with homemade incubator skills can guide you through if you want to build one, there are many ways. Just remember to hatch at least 4 or 5 because they all may not make it or be fertile eggs, and there might be losses after the hatch, too. Accidents happen, chicks get entrapped in feeders, drown in water containers, get crushed by feeders that get overturned or just get sick. They get pasty butt if they get too cold and sometimes are born with birth defects like crossed beak and others. Learn to use the search on this forum so you can learn about hatching eggs and associated problems and solutions as well as how to brood and care for the chicks. You need to have at least 2 or 3 that survive because raising single chicks is much more difficult.
