Well, I went out to check on her. Was thinking of bringing her inside and trying the tub again but...she was dead. Died right next to her nesting sister, so at least she wasn't alone.

Feel like I failed her.

That may settle the question of whether to eat her. I would not advise eating an animal that died of unknown causes.

I'm really sorry you lost her... don't feel like you failed her though, you did everything you could. Sometimes it's just time, and you can't change it.

I agree sometimes they just die. I lost Sue, I don't know why, she just died. I've been raising ducks for years.

So sorry for you loss! Its so hard, you never understand who much you really love them until they are gone.
Just remember you didn't fail her. She knew she was loved, and you did everything you knew to do, you did everything right. Sometimes, that's just all you can do.
